Cogeca Seminar in Helsinki
November 2003  the  extensive Cogeca Conference was organised in Helsinki. The theme of the conference was  European Agricultural Co-operatives and the Competition Law and Policy in Europe. Competition policy - are all Company Forms equal?
   Head speaker in the seminar was Mario Monti, Comissioner for Competition policy.

New members to Pellervo
In summer 2003 two extensive cooperative groups were admitted to Pellervo membership: Paikallisosuuspankkiliitto (Alliance of Local Cooperative Banks) and the association of new generation cooperatives Osuustoiminnan kehittäjät - Coop Finland ry. 

CEO of Pellervo has changed
CEO of Pellervo Confederation of Finnish Cooperation has changed. Veikko Hämäläinen, administerative director in Pellervo, was nominated CEO by the delegation of Pellervo  in December 2002.

What do we mean by succes?
The members of the negotiation pool for cooperation in Finland have published a broshure on cooperation.  You can find it now in pdf-format.

Negotiation Pool
A new nationwide negotiation pool for cooperation was established in Finland the 19 November in 2001.
   The purpose of the negotiation pool is to unite different cooperative sectors and to strengthen the possibilities for lobbying.
   The members of the negotiation pool represent both consumer and producer cooperatives. They are: Tradeka, Elanto, SOK and the Pellervo Confederation of Finnish Cooperation.

Latest cooperative legislation offprint in English
The Finnish Cooperative Law -offprint is published in September 2002. The cover page and more information click the link Products.
Cooperation legislation in Finland has changed in the beginning of 2002. The new law for example makes possible that the number of persons required to create a cooperative was reduces from five to three.
   Pellervo also made it possible for everybody tho read cooperative legislation in English- also in electrical form.  The english translation Co-operatives Act (pdf).

New Advisory Association
Finnish Animal Breeding Associtation and The Rural Advisory Centres have established a new advisory association ProAgria. ProAgria has started in the beginning of 2002.
   The idea of ProAgria is to strenghen advisory collaboration and offer better professional advisory services to the rural business life.

The new penetration gained by Pellervo
The board of directors and the delegation of Pellervo Confederation of Finnish Cooperatives have renewed the strategic principles for Pellervo.
   In the new strategy member relationship and members services are  highlighted.
