Co-operation – Responsible Finnish Ownership
The Co-operative Delegation published ”Osuustoiminta – vastuullista
suomalaista omistajuutta” in December 2005.
In January 2007 this publication was translated into English, Swedish and Spanish.
The translated pdf-versions consist of 14 pages, no pictures included.
With this publication, the Co-operative Delegation wishes, in its
turn, to maintain the discussion about ownership, and to bring out new
dimensions; to raise the importance of co-operation alongside knowhow
and entrepreneurship.

English.
You can read
it now in pdf-format.
The meaning of the broshure is to tell briefly about
the idea of cooperation. You can print the broshure on the paper. The real
size of the broshure is A5.

Latest co-op legislation in an offprint
Cooperation legislation in Finland has changed in the beginning of 2002. It is
translated in English.
In september 2002 the translation was published also in an
offprint called "The Finnish Cooperative Law". It consists of 96 black &
white pages, dimensions about 17 x 25 centimeters. The publicers are Pellervo,
Confederation of Finnish Cooperatives, and Finnish Consumer Cooperative
Association.

Cooperative governance
The operatin environment has become more complex and global. In order to
comprehend a company´s strategies, nonexecutive directors must be able to
identify the succes factorsin their sector and company. These in turn
provide the bases for discovering the correct ralationship tho the
companys´s operating environmentand its institutional solutions,
competitive corporate structures, as well as setting measurable objectives
for management and supervising their implementation. In
spring 1999 the Board of Directors of the Pellervo Confedration of Finnish
Cooperatives decided to organise a Working were top managers and
non-executive directors from cooperatives. The working group was chaired
by Samuli Skurnik and the secretary was Dr Raija Volk. Dimension: size A4,
34 pages.

The Pellervo Story
A Century of Finnish Cooperation, 1899-1999
The book offers three approaches to
Pellervo cooperation and developments in Finland:
- cooperative ideological and political ties,
- the growth and dynamics of cooperative enterprises, and
- cooperation as a grossroots popular movement.
The book further analyses the four main periods of the Finnish cooperative century:
- origin and establishment
- breakthrough and growth in the 1920s and 1930s |

- consolidation and concentration from the 1940s to the 1980s, and
- adjustment and reorientation from the mid-1980s onwards.

Top-level seminar
Top-level international cooperative seminar
took place in Helsinki, Finland June 11, 1999.
Proceedings of the seminar have been published in The Finnish
Journal of Business Economics (Liiketaloudellinen aikakauskirja) as a special
issue 4/99 The Role of Cooperative Entrepreneurship in the Modern Market
Environment (in picture).
The seminar was organised by Pellervo Confederation of Finnish
Cooperatives and Pellervo Economic Research Institute in colloboration wth the
Finnish Economic Association and the Helsinki School of Economics and Business
Administration.
The seminari was part of the programme of the centenary of the Finnish
cooperative movement.
